Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design & Manufacturing, Kurnool (IIITDMK) was announced in 2014 after receiving the assent of President of India to the Institutes of Information Technology Act, 2014, and its subsequent publication in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part- Il, Section I, on December 08, 2014. The institute was announced by Government of India to give effect to its obligation under the Andhra Pradesh reorganization act 2014. Located on a scenic 151-acre hilltop campus in the Rayalaseema region, the institute provides a serene and wind-swept environment ideal for high-level research and academic focus. Situated just 20 km from Kurnool Airport on NH 40, the campus has been fully operational since 2018 and is rapidly expanding its state-of-the-art infrastructure, including specialized laboratories and modern residential facilities, to support its growing community of students and faculty.

With the establishment of Manipal University Jaipur in 2011, a department of mechanical engineering was established. The department's primary goal is to produce competent engineers who can address societal needs through the provision of solutions that are both technically sound and economically feasible. Teachers and labs in the elds of Industrial, Manufacturing, Thermal, and Fluid Engineering are among the best in the country. The department hosts a plethora of clubs to keep students actively involved in the design and construction of models for various competitions. Students in the major also contribute to their local communities by participating in service initiatives. The division also offers value added courses that teach practical, marketable skills that can be applied immediately in the workplace. The department has forged collaborations with 15 prestigious institutions and manufacturing enterprises, making internships and research projects for students possible. In addition to undergraduate studies, the department also offers a rigorous Ph.D. program that fosters advanced research in core and interdisciplinary areas of Mechanical Engineering.
